DIRECTOR'S NOTE

"The Miserables," who'd want to see a show about them? Since its London opening in 1985, Les Misérables has been performed for millions of people in 30 different countries. Obviously these are not just miserable people on stage complaining. The characters in Les Misérables have a hope despite their squalid conditions. The poor and destitute challenge us to help them; the students give their lives in an attempt to better the world; Valjean and Marius learn how to forgive and the play's truth- "to love another person is to see the face of God." Les Misérables never pretends the world is perfect; there will always be vultures like the Thenardiers around. Despite this we are convinced that "even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise." I hope each of our campers take these ideals with them as they leave Buck's Rock and return to "the real world." Join us in our quest for the dawning of a new day.
